Douglas Case Study

The collaboration with Douglas was to develop new online shops in unsupported markets, aligning them with the new corporate design and integrating them with key operational systems such as ERP and marketing tools. The biggest challenge was to create a consistent, functional sales platform with seamless integration of external systems. With advanced ERP integrations, new payment methods and mobile optimisation, Douglas has seen an increase in reach and improved sales metrics. Our solutions enabled process automation, effective marketing campaigns and improved user experience, which increased conversions. The project provided valuable experience in integrating complex systems and adapting the e-commerce platform to local regulations.

Douglas Company

Perfumerie Douglas GmbH is a world-renowned perfumery chain that specialises in the sale of cosmetics for men and women. The company is present in 21 countries in Europe, Asia and the USA.

For some time now, Douglas has been offering its customers not only cosmetics, but also the possibility to sign up online for beauty tips and treatments. The perfumery chain is continually investing in the e-commerce sector, as well as integrating local online shops and expanding its online sales offering

What were the collaboration assumptions?

The main objective of the collaboration with Douglas was to develop and implement new online shops for markets where Douglas was not yet present. It was also important to align the new and existing shops with the new corporate design developed by Douglas and to integrate them with the company's key operational systems, such as ERP systems and marketing tools.

The Client's Biggest Challenges

The biggest challenge in the project was to create a visually and functionally coherent sales platform that was in line with Douglas' new corporate design and enabled seamless integration with external ERP systems, payment methods, shipping logistics and marketing tools used by Douglas.

How Did We Do It?

We started the project with a detailed analysis of the client's requirements and new corporate design. We then set to work on two new shops, implementing solutions designed specifically for Douglas on the Shopware platform. The work also included modifying the frontend of the three existing shops to make everything consistent with the new corporate identity.

Unique functionalities

As part of the project, we implemented a number of unique functionalities:

  • Advanced integrations with ERP systems, which has enabled the automation of many operational processes.
  • Implement new payment methods tailored to the specifications of each new market.
  • Integration of marketing tools that enabled successful promotional and advertising campaigns.
  • Mobile and desktop optimisation to ensure shops run smoothly across devices.

Results

Following the implementation of the new shops, Douglas noted:

  • Significant increase in coverage in new markets
  • Improved sales indicators.
  • The updated design and new functionalities have contributed to a better User Experience

What have we learnt?

This project was a valuable experience for us in understanding the specific needs of the cosmetics industry in different European markets. We learned how crucial it is to combine a coherent visual identity with effective technological solutions as a basis for building a strong brand presence in the international market. In addition, we have gained deeper experience in integrating complex ERP systems and adapting the e-commerce platform to various local regulations.
